Privacy Policy
Last updated:
This policy explains what information is collected when you use findacalculator.com, who receives it and what you can do about it. The site is operated by Vellenue LLC. Find a Calculator has no user accounts, no sign-up and no comment forms, so the amount of information involved is small.
Summary
- The figures you type into a calculator are processed in your browser. They are not sent to us and we cannot see them.
- Google Analytics is used to count visits, and only if you accept analytics cookies in the cookie bar.
- Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses.
- We do not ask for your name, email address or payment details anywhere on the site.
Information you enter into calculators
Every calculation runs on your own device. Loan amounts, salaries, balances, tax details and any other values you enter stay in the page you have open. They are not transmitted to our servers, not stored by us and not included in our analytics. Closing or reloading the page clears them.
The search box works the same way. The site downloads a list of page titles and matches what you type against it on your device; your search terms are not sent to us.
Analytics and cookies
The first time you visit, a bar at the bottom of the page asks whether you accept analytics cookies. If you decline, or simply ignore the bar, Google Analytics is not loaded and no analytics cookies are set.
If you accept, we use Google Analytics 4, a service provided by Google, to understand how the site is used: which pages are viewed, roughly how long visits last, what kind of device and browser is used, the general region a visit comes from and the site that referred it. Google Analytics places cookies in your browser that identify it with a random number; they do not contain your name or contact details. Google processes this information on its own servers and describes its practices in the Google Privacy Policy and in how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Your answer is saved in your browser's local storage so that the bar does not reappear on every page. You can change it at any time with the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of any page. Declining after you have accepted removes the analytics cookies from your browser.
Hosting and server logs
The site is hosted by Vercel. As with any website, the hosting provider's servers receive your IP address, browser type and the address of each page you request so that the page can be delivered. Vercel keeps these technical logs for security and reliability. We do not use them to identify individual visitors.
Currency exchange rates
When you open the currency converter, your browser requests the day's reference exchange rates from Frankfurter, a public service that republishes European Central Bank data. That request is made directly from your device, so the service receives your IP address, as any website you visit does. The amounts and currencies you convert are not sent; the conversion itself is done in your browser.
Advertising
Find a Calculator is free to use and may be supported by advertising through Google AdSense. Where ads are shown, Google and its advertising partners use cookies to serve ads based on your earlier visits to this site and to other websites.
You can turn off personalized advertising from Google in Google Ads Settings, and from many other advertising companies at aboutads.info/choices.
If you write to us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use it to reply and to act on what you tell us, such as correcting a calculator. We do not add you to a mailing list.
Where information is processed
The site is operated from the United States, and the service providers named in this policy process information in the United States and other countries. If you visit from elsewhere, information about your visit will be handled outside your own country.
Legal bases (EEA, UK and Switzerland)
Where data protection law requires a legal basis, analytics cookies are used on the basis of your consent, which you can withdraw at any time through "Cookie settings". Server logs and email correspondence are handled on the basis of our legitimate interests in keeping the site secure and answering the people who contact us.
Your choices and rights
- Decline analytics cookies in the cookie bar, or change your answer later with "Cookie settings" in the footer.
- Block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The calculators work without them.
- Install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on to stop Google Analytics recording your visits to any site.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal information is held about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to object to or restrict its use. Because we keep no accounts, we usually cannot link analytics records to a particular person, but we will help where we can. Send requests to contact@findacalculator.com. You also have the right to complain to the data protection authority in your country.
What we do not do
We do not sell your information, and we do not build profiles of the people who use the site.
Children
The site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
If the way the site handles information changes, for example when a new service is added, this page will be revised and the date at the top will change.
