About Find a Calculator

Find a Calculator publishes free financial calculators for borrowing, saving, investing and pay. Each calculator states the formula it uses, so you can check the result by hand or against a statement from your bank or lender.

How the calculators are built: every tool is written from the standard published formula for that calculation, such as the fixed-payment amortization formula for loans and the compound interest formula for savings. Results are tested against worked examples before a calculator is published, and the page shows the date it was last reviewed.

What the results are: estimates for planning. Lenders, banks, employers and tax authorities apply their own rounding, fees, day-count conventions and eligibility rules, so the figure on an official document can differ from ours. Nothing on this site is financial, tax or legal advice. For a decision with real money at stake, confirm the numbers with a qualified professional.

Tax figures: the income tax calculator uses the federal brackets and standard deductions for the tax year named in its title, and is updated when the IRS publishes new figures.

Privacy: calculations run in your browser. The numbers you type are not sent to our servers or stored. We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which calculators are used; it runs only if you accept analytics cookies, and records pages viewed, not the figures you enter. The currency converter requests the day's exchange rates from a public European Central Bank data feed and sends no personal information. The full detail is in the privacy policy.
